Privacy Policy

What we collect
Account details (name, email, password hash), listing content (photos, descriptions, city/state/ZIP — never your street address), booking history, messages between users, reviews, and approximate location if you choose to share it for distance search. Payment card details go directly to Stripe, our payment processor — RentATool never sees or stores full card numbers.
How we use it
To run the marketplace: showing listings, processing bookings and payments, holding and releasing deposits, resolving claims, and sending notifications about your rentals. We do not sell personal data.
Who we share it with
Service providers that run the platform: Stripe (payments and, for Owners, identity verification for payouts), Vercel (hosting), and Neon (database). Other users see what the marketplace requires: your display name, city, listings, reviews, and messages you send them. Tool pages may link to Amazon with our affiliate tag; those links carry no personal data about you.
Cookies
We use a session cookie to keep you signed in. No third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
Retention and your rights
We keep account data while your account is active, and booking and payment records as long as required for disputes, accounting, and legal obligations. You can update your profile at any time, and you can request deletion of your account and associated personal data by contacting us.
